Food Storage Recipes

Ingredients

  • 1 cube butter or butter substitute
  • 2 tablespoons of salt
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 8 cups cold water
  • 3 tablespoons yeast
  • 8 cups wheat flour
  • 10 cups white flour

Instructions

  1. In large bowl, put in the 1 cube butter or butter substitute, 2 tablespoons of salt and 2 cups brown sugar
  2. Pour 4 cups hot water over the contents of the bowl.  Let dissolve.  Add 4 cups cold water. Sprinkle 3 T yeast on top.  Let sit about 5 minutes until the yeast is activated/bubbly.
  3. Add about 8 cups wheat flour.  Stir.  Add about 10 cups white flour. Stir.
  4. Knead.  Add 1 cup white flour as needed to get rid of stickiness.
  5. Cover and let rise, for about 1 hour.
  6. Punch dough down to remove air bubbles.  Divide into 5 parts equally.  Grease pans.  Roll into loaves and place into bread pans.  Let rise for 20-30 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.  Remove from the pan and let cool.
